Learnerships ImageThe function of debt recovery is a rapidly growing area in the Financial Services Sector and this means that there is an on-going need for skilled people to carry out these functions in this business sector, both within larger corporations and the SMME (Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise) sector.

With our new Debt Recovery Learnership learners who are already involved, or who wish to become involved, in the field of Debt Recovery are provided with a route to obtain an occupational or professional NQF Qualification with a strong emphasis on workplace experience.

The Further Education and Training (FET): Debt Recovery Learnership is based on the National Certificate in Debt Recovery (SAQA ID: 49021) registered on the National Qualifications Framework on Level 4.

Throughout the learnership, learners will acquire the following knowledge and skills:

  • Managing debtor portfolios
  • Managing credit grantor portfolios
  • Administering the debt recovery process
  • Applying key legislation, codes of conduct and ethics in the debt recovery context
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders in at least two languages
  • Using mathematics correctly in work and personal situations
  • Facilitating of oral and written communications for the purposes of effectively administering debt recovery
  • Personal effectiveness within the debt recovery context

Qualifying learners could then choose to follow a career in Debt Recovery, Credit Management, Financial Services, SMME Management, Generic Supervision and Management or Administration.

Structure and Duration of Learnership:

The Learnerships are conducted over a 12 month period and comprise of both a classroom-based and workplace learning component.

Classroom-Based Learning Component:

As each learnerships consist of various modules, the modules are grouped into various phases of classroom-based training set out below. Training days are scheduled over a period of 12 months with consecutive training days per phase.

Workplace Learning Component:

Upon completion of the classroom-based training session you will be required to apply your learning back at the workplace through completing various tasks and assignments that need to be submitted for assessment to Compuscan Academy. During this time you will receive the support and guidance from a workplace coach as well as from Compuscan Academy’s Learning Support Officer. Our Learning Support Officer will monitor and ensure continuous interaction between you and the respective facilitator to make sure that you are able to successfully complete the Learnership.

 * Learners in possession of a valid, certified Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and a Language can obtain exemption from completing these modules.

All the modules are designed in an action learning format, which means that you will be assessed on your ability to apply the learning in the workplace. Therefore this is not just a theoretical study but a very practical work-based learning experience. The practical component of the learnership includes case studies, workplace assignments, role plays (where applicable), reflection and feedback opportunities, group discussions and exercises. These modules will be delivered in a classroom-based learning format and will be supported by workplace assessments and assignments.

Entry Requirements for Learnership:   

In order to enrol for a learnership, learners should have a Matric / Grade 12 Certificate or be competent in:

  • Mathematics NQF Level 3
  • Communication  NQF Level 3
  • Computer Literacy NQ Level 2
